What did I think? (selected Bat Shows with the Joker in order from best to worst)
... about the casting of Heath Ledger - the right choice. Sad he won't be doing more. The part was wriiten well - the film was AWESOME!
Batman Mask of the Phantasm (9.5) - I have to nitpick to find things that aren't good in this animated film. It isn't live. Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy are superb. The creators and writers are topnotch. The animation is revolutionary. The Story is great. Throw in Harley Quinn - what's not to like?
Batman (9) - Frank Miller and Tim Burton's vision. A huge budget and done well. I wasn't sure about one of my favorite comedic actors playing Bats but he did great. I was not impressed with Jack's Joker. He wasn't the right casting choice. The Elfman soundtrack and sets and props were great.
Batman the animated Series (9) - Wow! This was an animated show on TV? Dark, serious, well written, well voiced, well drawn and animated. When I was a kid I watched the absolutely awful Super Friends (the early Wendy and Marvin and the Wonder Twins versions). Mark Hamill found his nitche in comic book voices (He was Spidey's Hobgoblin as well as others including an animated version of the Trickster whom he played live on the Flash)
Baman: season 1 (8.5) - I didn't know it was a comedy when I was watching the reruns in the 70's. As an adult obviously I see the campiness but it is nostalgic now. The only thing that is bad about this show is Adam West and King Tut. Most of the villain actors and all the supporting cast are great. The stories are fun. The action is awesome!
Batman - the new animated adventures of Batman and Robin (8.5) - Not as dark as the previous animated version but with the same talent honing their skills.
Batman: season 3 (8) - Yvonne Craig was added and Cesar was as great as ever.
Batman: season 2 (7.5) - The stories were not as good as season one. The old gags were getting worn out. I think it was this season that they let Ashcroft don the Riddler suit and Newmar stepped out of the role of Catwoman -But no one can replace Romero' mustache. Can't they just kill King Tut?
Batman The Movie (7) - Not actually as good as the TV show. It is just a longer episode albeit without the cliff hanger or Batgirl. I can live with Meriwether instead of Newmar. It was nice to see some more vehicles and props.
